Tuesday - Ephesians 1:7-10
"
7 qIn him we have rredemption sthrough his blood, tthe forgiveness of our trespasses, uaccording to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight9 vmaking known to us the mystery of his will, naccording to his purpose, which he wset forth in Christ 10 as a plan for xthe fullness of time, yto unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth." - Ephesians 1:7-10
Its awesome to be able to know the will of God. We would love the imagery of how he lavished us with his grace. He doesn't just give it he lavishes it on us. it's his purpose and his plan that we have been given the opportunity to know and experience.
ReplyDeleteDanielle would like to make the comment that she did not edit my typing on the previous post! lol! :-) the 2nd sentence on the previous post should have read we love the imagery . . .:-)
ReplyDeleteNo matter how many times I hear God say through His word that He gave His Son so that I am able to have a friendship with God directly, it still humbles me. - Jason
ReplyDeleteWhat struck me is all the references to what Christ has done and is doing in us. I get overwhelmed easily in my ordinary life, but Jesus never gets overwhelmed by the tasks before Him. It really is true that He does all the hard work for us and He is on the throne and rules His will, His purpose, and His timing. We serve a mighty King! - Shelly
I think the thing that struck Katie and me was the incredible size of God's plan. For Katie this came through the picture of each believer being able to know the mystery of His will as a result of His grace. The vastness of His grace to everyone who believes is so far-reaching.
ReplyDeleteFor me the thing that stuck out was the goal for every piece of His huge plan. We get so self-focused thinking we are the goal, our individual relationship with Him, but His goal isn't reached until all things in heaven and earth are united in Him. This means our goals are only beginning to be reached when they are only individual goals.
It is very humbling to know that God has chosen us to be a part of his big plan. The other thing I thought about as I read this is something we have been talking about at CCCM...unity: "to unite all things in him..."
ReplyDeleteI am comforted to know that God has a plan for His creation and by His grace which he has "lavished on us", I am included. Like Shelly said, He has done all the work, we just need to unite with Him.
ReplyDeleteThis the greatest run-on sentence ever! Grace covers so many aspects of our lives and relationship to god that our ideas of love and hope and even grammar cannot contain His reckless love for us.
ReplyDelete"To unite all things in Him" is a great promise that He intends to eliminate the darkness in our lives and the world forever!
