Thursday - Ephesians 1:15-18

"15 For this reason, mbecause I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love6 toward all the saints, 16 I ndo not cease to give thanks for you, oremembering you in my prayers, 17 that pthe God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, qmay give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 rhaving the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is sthe hope to which he has called you, what are tthe riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, " - Ephesians 1:15-18

    Paul is there to teach and lead the people. He is inspired by their faith in Jesus and is constantly praying for them. He is truly thankful for his people, despite their flaws. We must always have in mind that these are GOD'S people and GOD has chosen us to lead and care for their lives. We should operate in an attitude of humility and thanksgiving.

    As leaders we need to spend time celebrating and thanking God for how He is working in our congregation's lives. We should celebrate all of their victories and wins with thanksgiving. At the same time we should never stop praying that they, and we ourselves, would allow the scope of His Lordship and the impact of an eternal perspective to continually grow. We should celebrate the great things and never grow content with where we still need growth in order to more closely resemble Jesus and the Bride He is calling us to be.

    Paul is a great encourager and someone who has a heart for His people. Lord, help us grow in your wisdom and knowledge so that we can have a heart for every person at CCCM and be the great encourager for Your people. I saw this first hand in Alaska. The lady who hosted us has a heart for her village, to see them come to Jesus and she is willing to do whatever it takes. I am so grateful for that experience.

    These verses remind me that as God's people we must continue to: pray for each other; support each other; and teach each other. Thank you God for your Word!

    "having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you..."

    In one of our devos in Alaska we discussed selfishness and how it seems to be at the core of practically every sin in our lives.

    This verse gives reassurance that I can know God's will for me and I can overcome the ugly selfishness.

    We love how Paul has such a passion and heart for the people he shepherds. We can all learn through his thoughtful and genuine prayers that he offers on their behalfs. Prayers and words of encouragement.
