Saturday - September 3 - Ephesians 6:5-9
5 vBondservants,1 obey your earthly masters2 with fear and trembling, wwith a sincere heart, xas you would Christ, 6 not by the way of eye-service, as ypeople-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 zknowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, awhether he is a bondservant3 or is free. 9 Masters, do the same to them, band stop your threatening, knowing that che who is both their Master4 and yours is in heaven, and that dthere is no partiality with him.

This is a tough one for me (Jeff), because I have always worked for someone and I typically have disagreements and differences of opinion in the workplace. As we read and studied this scripture again, we were reminded that the people at work are part of the authority structure that God has put in place, and we should respect that authority.
ReplyDeleteThe big part for us is that we need to do everything we do as if for Him. Our motivator to do a good job with anything we do is not to be noticed, but for Him. No matter what our station or status, God is over all of us. As overseerers and elders we need to make sure we never look at the people that God has placed under our leadership as servants to or for us. The Lord said that we should be leaders not like the Gentiles who lord their authority over them, but rather we should lead through serving them.
